France beats Serbia to win its 1st World League title

France\’s men\’s volleyball team defeated Serbia 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 to win its first World League title on Sunday.
Antonin Rouzier and Earvin Ngapeth scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, to help France secure the trophy.
Earlier on Sunday, defending champion United States beat world champion Poland 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 to take the bronze medal at the Maracanazinho Arena. Taylor Sander, the most valuable player a year ago, led the Americans with 14 points, while Dawid Konarski scored 12 for Poland.
Host Brazil, the league\’s most successful team with nine titles, didn\’t make it to the decisive stage.
The finals marked the first test event for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016. The Maracanazinho will be home to the volleyball competition next year.
