Border clash kills 3 Saudi soldiers, dozens of Yemeni rebels

(AP Photo/Hani Mohammed)The Saudi Defense Ministry says three Saudi soldiers and "dozens" of Yemeni Shiite rebels were killed overnight Friday after the rebels and their supporters launched a cross-border attack on the kingdom.
A ministry statement says the Yemeni rebels attacked late Friday night, targeting "border posts and control points" in southern Najran province. Saudi ground forces, backed by air strikes, repelled the attack, the ministry said.
Saudi Arabia leads a coalition of mostly Sunni Arab countries conducting airstrikes against the rebels who have overrun the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and forced the Western-backed president, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, to flee the country. The Shiite rebels, known as Houthis, are allied with military and security forces loyal to ousted former president Ali Abdullah Saleh. Hadi now operates from the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
