A man injured by one of the two blasts in downtown Nairobi arrives to be treated at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, May 16, 2014.
At least 10 people have been killed and more than 70 injured in two explosions in a busy Nairobi market place, according to Kenya\’s disaster agency. Kenya\’s National Disaster Operation Centre (NDOC) said the blasts occurred at the Gikomba market.
Authorities say the first blast occurred in a minibus and the second explosion took place inside the market.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the blasts, which came after the United States and Britain issued travel advisories to their citizens in Kenya warning of potential attacks.
There have been heightened concerns about Kenya\’s security because of its proximity to Somalia, the base for the al-Qaida linked al-Shabab group.
