Slovenia’s Prime Minister has announced her resignation and pressed lawmakers to call early parliamentary elections next month.
Alenka Bratusek a 44-year-old financial expert, handed in her resignation to parliament Monday after losing the battle for the leadership of the Positive Slovenia party more than a week ago.
She has called for an early election to be held in the small European Union nation next month.
Bratusek helped to successfully steer Slovenia through eurozone economic turmoil last year.
