At least three people have died and as many as 30 trapped after a mine collapse in western Colombia. Authorities say rescue workers have managed to remove three bodies and two more people have been taken to hospital.
Colombian officials say the collapse occurred late Wednesday in a rural area about 315 kilometers southwest of Bogota.
Cauca province Governor Temistocles Ortega says illegal miners use machinery to open huge holes to extract gold, and one of the walls of a hole fell in.
Police, troops, civil defense and the Red Cross are helping in rescue efforts.
