A total of 17 people were killed and 23 others wounded on Saturday in separate attacks across Iraq, including the volatile province of Anbar, police said.
Police say five people were wounded in the blast Sunday in Ramadi, 115 kilometers west of Baghdad.
Authorities say the bridge, a key crossing used by Ramadi\’s residents, was damaged in the explosion.
Earlier Sunday, seven soldiers were shot dead in an attack on a security checkpoint in Mosul, 360 kilometers northwest of Baghdad.
Iraq has been experiencing its worst violence in recent years, driven primarily by widespread discontent among its Sunni Arab minority and by the civil war in neighboring Syria. More than 1,400 people have been killed this year.
