At least 9 civilians killed in Kabul hotel attack

The Serena Hotel was sealed off by the special forces and police.
At least 9 civilians including children and foreigners were killed in a Taliban attack on a luxury hotel in Kabul, the spokesman for Afghanistan\’s interior ministry said Friday, just weeks before the country\’s presidential election. 
Authorities said Friday at least one child and four foreigners were killed in the assault. The foreigners were from Canada, India, New Zealand and Pakistan. 
The four Taliban gunmen were shot dead in the incident Thursday. 
Earlier, officials said at least two guards were wounded as guests scrambled for safety.
Officials say the gunmen walked into the Serena Hotel in the early evening and waited about three hours before firing. All were said to be younger than 18 years old.
The Taliban is claiming responsibility for the attack. The militant group has promised to disrupt plans for the April 5 Afghan presidential election.
A suicide bomber attacked the Serena Hotel in 2008, killing at least six people.
