A police officer says a bomb exploded in northwest Pakistan near a vehicle carrying officials taking part in an anti-polio campaign, killing at least seven people.
Authorities say the blast occurred on Monday in a village outside of the provincial capital of Peshawar, during an anti-polio campaign.
Pakistan is one of three countries in the world where polio is still endemic.
One of the reasons polio remains prevalent is that militants who oppose the campaigns often target the workers and threaten people who want to have their children vaccinated.
