Suicide bombers kill four police in Iraq
Iraqi authorities say suicide bombers have attacked a police headquarters north of Baghdad, killing at least four officers.
Security and hospital officials say four militants attacked the base in the town of Baiji early Saturday.
One militant was killed by police during a shootout outside the base. Three others set off their explosives inside the facility.
There is no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which comes amid a wave of violence across the country.
On Friday, an explosion inside a Sunni mosque killed 15 people in Samarra, north of Baghdad.
Violence between Sunnis and Shi\’ite Muslims in Iraq has risen sharply in recent months. The attacks have raised fears of all-out sectarian warfare.
The U.N. says more than 4,000 people have been killed between April and August of this year.
