Thai anti-government protest leader killed in Bangkok violence

Authorities identified the dead man as Suthin Taratin. Police said five people were wounded in the shooting Sunday.
Swarms of demonstrators succeeded in blocking voting at some polling stations Sunday, but the results are still expected to be a forecaster of the outcome of the February 2 polls.
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra dissolved the parliament and called the snap elections in an attempt to end weeks of protests by anti-government demonstrators who want her to step down and turn the government over to an unelected council.
The Election Commission and the opposition want the election postponed. But the government says it will delay the ballot only if protests end and the opposition abandons its boycott of the polls.
